The credit agencies want their records to be accurate, as their clients are often major users of credit checks who demand the most accurate credit reports in return for the costly annual subscriptions they pay to access the database. When you access your credit report you also have the option to add comments if you wish — for example, to explain why you missed a payment on an account. When your file is accessed for a credit check, the company making the enquiry will then be able to consider your comments in their appraisal.
